  I like the staff, the office girls were delightful. But one of Dr. DeAndrade's policies is beyond stupid and resulted in me making an appt. with a different office. I went in for a free second opinion exam that they advertise but because I didn't have the estimate from my first dentist, DeAndrade would not look at me unless I paid $150 for a consult.
  
  Why would he need to see the game plan from another dental office before giving me HIS opinion? He can examine the patient without any preconceived notions if he's competent. He shouldn't have to look at another doctor's recommendations or price structure before giving his opinion. That's just common sense....if you get three contractors to bid on a job at your house, do you share the details with the others? Of course not. In fairness, they did ask me to bring in the other dentist's findings, but I couldn't open his email up anyway because my computer did not support the file. So I went to my appt. with DeAndrade figuring they would be okay to proceed without the other guy's opinion. Wrong. I was told to either come back when I get the results or pay $150 for the 'free' exam.
  
  Again, the office girls were very nice but if this was my practice, I would have done the sensible thing and proceeded without the records. He certainly did not need to see the other dentist's game plan in order to formulate his own. I'd be embarrassed to turn a potential client away simply for not arriving with a different dentist's results when the whole object is to give an objective opinion. I guess DeAndrade is so rigid and unbending that he couldn't bring himself to stray from his dumb policy. I'm guessing he's a good dentist who has questionable customer relation skills, but I'll never find out. Too bad because this was a wasted effort for both their office and for me....a needless wasted effort at that.
